Hi Just a little info on our company..
Katson Imports consists of husband and wife team of Martin and Viv Napier and a close working relationship with our mobile mechanic Ian Thomas (who uses my sheds, shares lunch with us and maintains all our imported and traded stock). We are based in the awesome small Wairarapa town of Greytown where we have been importing machinery from mainly Japan and America for the last 15 years. After many years of part owning a Tractor retail business we realised that as our customers are New Zealand wide , sales would be much more suited to web site, trade me, type approach rather than a "bricks and motar" yard. With the lack of serious overheads we are able to import and resell at very competitive prices.
Importing requires a very good understanding of the current New Zealand market but just as important is a stong working relationship with the supplier or suppliers. We have operatated with basically one Japanese family owned machinery export business for the last 13 years. It is a relationship like this and the friendships formed that make it all worth while.plus the food is just the greatest !
Katson Imports is not a 'big tractor' company (although we are often able to assist with bigger nz new tractors) We specialize in providing machinery , mainly tractors and attachments to the Lifestyle block, vineyard and nursery type of businesses. Under 40hp, 2 or 4 wd,and with or without a Front end loader are our main items.
Suppling Golf clubs with fairway and greens mowers plus tractors to suit is another part of our business which is expanding quite rapidly. We normally source the particuar item that our customer requires from our supplier in the USA and then organise Transport,customs etc and offer a delivered price so that everyone knows exactly what the deal is.
Industrial machinery also feature prominantly on our list of imports. Over the last few years we have brought in excavators, forklifts, telelifters, trucks and even a snow plough so if we can find it we can get it to you !!
